Merry Christmas
from the Meritts
Dear Friends and Family,
We hope you are enjoying the holiday season. We have been busy with school programs and other fun Christmas activities. It will be nice to have some time off to enjoy special time with family and friends over Christmas break.
One of the highlights of Justin’s year was passing a soccer referee course. He is looking forward to making a little spending money and getting some exercise at the same time! He is now an eighth grader at Pine Castle Christian Academy and continues to do well in all his classes. He has also been helping with sound, lights and other media in the children’s and youth ministry at church. He is starting to look forward to high school!
Jeremy had a wonderful time in his first school play recently. The drama department presented “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.” Jeremy played Hobie. He did great! This will probably not be the last role he plays as he is already talking about trying out for the next production. He is now a sixth grader at Pine Castle Christian Academy. He is doing well. He is playing soccer and also helping with media at church.
Julie is now in fourth grade at Pine Castle Christian Academy. One of the highlights of her year has been her involvement in High Flyers, the brand new gifted program for elementary students. Her creativity has really come through in the projects she has done. Soccer continues to be a big part of her life. She played up in age this fall on Jeremy’s team and did very well.
Our ultimate extrovert is Jamie. She is all about people. Our house has become a huge gathering point for neighborhood children mainly due to Jamie and her natural leadership skills. She loves her kindergarten class at Pine Castle Christian Academy. She is one of the oldest students in her class and is doing very well.
For the first time, all four kids played soccer this fall, so our Saturday mornings were full of games. Jamie had a great time playing with kids a year older than her. Julie and Jeremy’s team did so well that their team is going to move from recreational soccer to competitive soccer this spring. So we will be doing more traveling. Justin also played, but this may be his last season. He is looking at focusing on refereeing this spring.
This summer, we drove to Campus Crusade’s staff training conference in Colorado for the first time since Justin was just a baby. We spent five weeks on the road. We had a great time seeing sites along the way and visiting a number of different ministry partners. We also took some vacation time and visited several places in Colorado and Utah, including Arches and Rocky Mountain National Parks. We had some great family time and made many memories.
Dave and Lynn have enjoyed a number of different ministry trips this year. Dave had a great time during a week long trip to Bolivia earlier this fall. He was there to train a number of different Campus Crusade staff from several different countries in South America on how to do high school ministry. Lynn made several very brief trips to New York City, Atlanta, and San Diego. We love enabling others to reach students for Christ.
We hope you have a wonderful Christmas celebrating Jesus’ birth.
