Justin

Dear Friends,

We trust you are doing well. We are enjoying spring here in Orlando. This week, Justin celebrates his fourteenth birthday. He is already looking forward to next year when he can get his learner’s permit. This month we wanted to share a little about the power of prayer from the perspective of one of Dave’s affiliates.
PaulaPaula is a teacher at a high school in Rhode Island.  She has a great heart to see her students come to Christ.  Every Monday after school she opens her classroom to the Christian group at her school.  Each week she was getting very discouraged that only a couple of girls were showing up and no one else was able to help her lead.  She and Dave began to pray that God would move.  Here are some of the answers from the emails she has sent.

God is answering prayer. I should have sent you a prayer list ages ago, or this is just God's timing now. I had nine students (three alumni) at Monday's meeting. We had a great time of prayer for our group and its future. After the meeting, Victoria emailed me asking if she could speak to the group this coming Monday about dating, relationships, and trusting God in those areas. She was in an abusive relationship last year. After getting some counseling, prayer, and help from stronger Christian sisters, she is happy to be used by God to reach out to others and share how they can avoid that situation by doing things God's way. I'm just so excited that I had to let you know. Thanks so much for the prayers.

Sorry, I forgot the rest of the good news. Meredith was also there Monday and she asked if we could get together with some of the girls after a Monday meeting in about 2 weeks and do something fun. God is sooooooooooo good!!!!!

I wanted to pass this on now, 'cuz it's just so exciting. Last night we had a preview night at the high school aimed at the 8th graders and their parents. As part of that night, each club in the school is allowed to have a display table in the cafeteria where they can display information about their group and talk with parents and students. Well, as a result of our display last night, I discovered that one of the new female guidance counselors is a Christian. Hallelujah!!! I'm going to talk to her soon and propose that we get together on a regular basis and pray for the Christian kids in my group and the others who don't come. Also last night, I met an 8th-grade girl, who is very involved in outreach ministries in her church, and is very excited about coming to the high school and joining our group next year. This is another answer to prayer. I also found out from Melinda that she is very interested in outreach. We couldn't talk long, so I didn't have time to ask her to explain what she meant by that, but I will and we'll see where that leads. Also, Victoria was there with me all evening and she is really coming alive in her faith and wanting to reach out and help the kids still in the high school to be more dedicated and share their faith.

It has been encouraging to see how God answers prayer. In addition to the answered prayers that were already shared, one of new girls in the group recently made a decision to follow Jesus.

Here are some other prayer requests:

  • Pray that Paula would have the opportunity to do a beauty bash outreach with girls at her school.
  • Pray for Lynn as she speaks at a women’s retreat for a co-worker’s church this weekend.
  • Pray for Dave and Jeremy as they look for a place to minister together this summer. Dave took Justin to Ecuador in 2008 and it is now Jeremy’s turn. Pray that God would provide an opportunity and the financial support for them to go.
  • We are thankful for all of your prayers and financial support which allows us to equip others to reach students for Christ. We would appreciate your prayers as we trust God for the rest of monthly support we currently need.

Thanks again for all you do to enable us to reach this generation for Christ.
