The future of America greatly depends on reaching out to our young people today.

Student Venture is an organization of people who love kids and have been reaching out to teenagers since 1966. Who is Student Venture? How are we making a difference in our world? Here are answers to the most common questions about our movement:

What is Student Venture?
Student Venture, the high school and junior high outreach of Campus Crusade for Christ is a ministry of tens of thousands of students and 900 full-time staff, volunteers, and VITAL LINC Affiliates across the nation and around the world.  Virtually every individual passes, through high school and junior high making an outreach to teenagers one of the most important strategies in our nation.

Why is reaching teenagers important?
The values students adopt become the future values of their nation. That is why it is critical to introduce students to Jesus Christ before they graduate from high school and help establish them in their faith in Christ.

Are students really interested in Christianity?
Growing up has never been easy, but today it is probably more difficult than ever. As a result, students seek answers to the problems they experience, and many are responsive to the claims of Christ. That is one reason why 85 to 90 percent of all those who receive Christ in our day do so before the age of 20.

Are Student Venture representatives allowed to work on campus?
Since nearly all meetings we sponsor for students take place off campus, going on campus is not essential to our work. Meeting with students on campus, however, is allowed in the majority of schools in communities where Student Venture representatives minister. The controversy of the church-and-state issue in our nation has resulted in the loss of some on-campus privileges.

How does Student Venture help students?
We work where the students spend their time: On the campus, at home, or in the community. Through teachers and coaches, we are often given opportunities to speak in classrooms and to athletic teams where we present values relating to their area of study and interest. Our time off campus is spent in one-on-one and small group interaction, and in conducting evening meetings in homes, churches or community centers. Several times a year, Student Venture sponsors special retreats and training conferences for students.

How do students get involved in Student Venture?
Students become involved through popular weekly Student Venture meetings and the small group discipleship strategy. Through Student Venture's leadership training, many Christian students learn how to reach out to others and share Christ at their schools. You will find that many teenagers involved in Student Venture have become Christians through the witness of fellow students.

What does the future hold for Student Venture?
Working with local churches and other youth organizations, our objective is to help communicate the love of Christ to every student on every campus in America. Our goal is to partner with the body of Christ across the U.S. and the world, helping to establish campus outreaches.

How can Student Venture be started in my community?
Expansion of Student Venture's work depends greatly upon the initiative of lay people and churches with in the community. Beginning Student Venture ministries with full-time staff members is largely determined by the availability of staff. One exciting option is to begin Student Venture through our VITAL LINC program. Through this strategy, local leaders (Affiliates) are "coached" by a full-time Student Venture staff member to begin and develop an outreach in their own home town. The VITAL LINC coach regularly calls and encourages the Affiliate over the phone and supplies materials and training to build and maintain an effective campus outreach.

Another means of beginning Student Venture in your community is through the "Hometown America" strategy. Through this strategy, communities can lay the groundwork for a Student Venture outreach and help raise up full-time Student Venture staff to work with students. (Contact our office for details.)
